At Cooper Counseling and Wellness, we understand that accessing quality mental health care can sometimes feel out of reach. That’s why we’re thrilled to offer low-cost counseling services led by Kayla, a dedicated Master's level graduate counseling student intern. With her extensive training, compassionate approach, and personal experiences, Kayla provides accessible mental health support tailored to your needs.
Hello, I'm Kayla! As a Master's level graduate counseling student intern, I specialize in helping individuals navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts. My approach focuses on creating a safe, supportive space where you can feel valued and empowered to grow.

My background includes working with individuals and groups experiencing severe trauma during my internship at the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center. There, I used evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) to help clients heal and thrive. I also have experience integrating play therapy for children, enabling me to meet a wide range of client needs.

In addition to helping clients navigate anxiety and depression, I also offer the following services.
Pregnancy Wellness Support
As someone who has experienced a traumatic pregnancy and birth, I bring a unique perspective to perinatal mental health care. I understand the profound emotional challenges that can arise during pregnancy and postpartum, especially for women of color who may face additional cultural and systemic barriers.

Whether you're experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or navigating the complexities of motherhood, I am here to support you with culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care. Together, we’ll work to foster resilience, healing, and empowerment during this critical time.
Groups for Pregnancy and Postpartum Support
In addition to individual counseling, I will be leading Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Groups at Cooper Counseling and Wellness. These groups are designed to help mothers connect, share, and heal in a supportive community. Each session will provide a space to explore your experiences, build connections, and gain tools for navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood.
